Day 9 - Not Just A Lot of Bull ...Temple

Alison Lusk, 20 August 2013 - 15:15

Today was another fun-filled day for the India-Impact crew. This morning started off with a hectic morning as we boarded the bus at 5:30 to head to the Kochi airport. After braving the unorganized check-in and security lines, we flew from Kochi to our third and final city of Bangalore.

The director of IBS, Prof KB, described India as a “country very much under construction.” In particular, Bangalore is known as the silicon valley of Asia in the state of Karnataka. It is well known as an industrial hub of India, housing companies like Toyota, Google, Volvo, Deloitte, etc.  The local language is Kannada, but most people know English because of the prevalence of companies from other places like the US and Europe.

After we visited the IBS School of Business of Bangalore in the morning, we then headed into the city to see the Bull Temple and Lalbagh Botanical Garden for the afternoon.

And with this brief overview, let me close out this post with a rhyme I’ve prepared for y’all.

(Caution….I am no professional)

Had a wake up call at 5AM

Jumped out of bed and had to pack again

Drove an hour to the airport, then stood in line

Almost missed our flight, but we got there just in time

So onto the city of Bangalore we flew

Upon our arrival, everything was so new

Unlike where we have been

Bangalore is technologically driven

Skyscrapers and glimpses of upscale cars galore

However the roads could still develop a good bit more

Straight from the airport, we traveled to IBS

This is a graduate school for business

Our visit with IBS was quite productive

We built a new relationship instead of being destructive

So onto the Bull temple we went

It was so beautiful and ornate that our time was well spent

Next to the temple, there was a forest full of bats

Poor little Evan ended up with some shat

On his back

That part was really wack

The Lalbagh Botanical Garden was simply divine

Let me hit you with a history lesson of mine

Since bagh means garden and lal means red in these cases

They filled these grounds with plants from all different places

At the end of our time here it started to pour

Thankfully our bus was there to take us on another tour

We wrapped up this busy day with another lovely dinner

Overall, I’d say we are all winners

Please excuse me for I am not a writer

All I know is engineering and how to pull and all-nighter.
