​WHY INDIA?
India is among the five BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), which represent the world’s fastest growing economies. These countries have a massive impact on other economies across the globe, and are continually increasing their impact on global markets. As a result of this growth, it can be expected that that this generation’s SELF graduates will undoubtedly work with individuals and companies of these countries in their careers. At the University of Kansas School of Engineering there are many connections in India that the Fellows can take advantage of and there is strong support from the faculty for the development of a study abroad program in India.

There is no doubt that traveling to this foreign country will take many Fellows far out of their comfort zones. Because India is still a developing country, the differences between the visit and the Fellows’ American lives will be obvious and impactful. While abroad, the Fellows will maintain a blog with regular updates in an effort to keep their peers, donors, and faculty updated on the experiences that greet them.
